Correspondence: Małgorzata Pawlikowska, Chair of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Szczecin, Fe Abstract The studies aimed at presenting dynamic alterations in levels of lymphocytes T (receptor CD5+), Th (receptor CD4+), Tc/Ts (receptor CD8+), B (receptor IgM) and of lymphocytes with CD25+ receptor in rabbits immunized with Chlamydophila psittaci – strain 6BC. Serological studies were also conducted to detect presence of specific anti-Chlamydophila antibodies. Analysis of the results demonstrated that immunization of rabbits with the studied antigen resulted in an increase in levels of lymphocytes B in days 14, 28, 42, 49, 56, lymphocytes with CD25 receptor in days 14, 42, 49, lymphocytes T in days 14 and 35, Tc/Ts cells in days 28 and 35 and decreased levels of lymphocytes Th in days 7, 14 and 56, lymphocytes T in days 7, 42 and 49, lymphocytes Tc/Ts in the day 42 and lymphocytes with CD25 receptor in the day 21. On the other hand, positive titres of specific antibodies were detected in days 49-56 following immunization, i.e. 5-6 weeks later than the first significant alterations in levels of lymphocytes and of their subpopulations.

Determination of lymphocytes surface markers in patients with thermal burns and the influence of burn size on mononuclear cell subsets
Background: Thermal burn injuries impair the host defence system. Hence, in the present study, we aimed at investigating the changes in the number and phenotype of peripheral blood lymphocyte populations (T, B, and natural killer cells) and their subpopulations in patients with thermal burns and determining the relationships with different sizes of total body surface area (TBSA). ...
متن کاملMolecular identification and successful treatment of Chlamydophila psittaci (genotype B) in a clinically affected Congo African grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus erithacus)
Avian chlamydiosis is caused by Chlamydiophila psittaci with the highest infection rate in parrots (Psittacidae) and pigeons (Columbiformes). A two-year-old Congo African grey parrot was examined since the bird had shown clinical signs of anorexia, depression, diarrhea, and mild dyspnea and based on biochemical and hemathological analysis the bird was diagnosed as having anemia, leukocytosis, h...
متن کاملSelective indices on non-specific cell-mediated immunity in rabbits immunized with Chlamydophila psittaci.
INTRODUCTION Studies of non-specific immunity in infection or immunization with Chlamydophila (Chl.) Psittaci in static experimental models showed changes in parameters of this immunity. The aim of this study was to evaluate selected parameters of non-specific immunity in rabbits immunized with Chl. Psittac. MATERIAL/METHODS The study was performed on rabbits, divided into two groups of 10 an...
متن کاملT AND B LYMPHOCYTES AND THEIR SUBPOPULATIONS IN PERIPHERAL BLOOD IN RABBITS EXPERIMENTALLY INFECTED WITH Fr-2 STRAIN OF VIRAL HAEMORRHAGIC DISEASE (VHD) VIRUS
Kinetic alterations in the number of T and B lymphocytes and their subpopulations (Th, Tc/Ts, activated T and B lymphocytes) in peripheral blood of rabbits were examined following experimental infection with VHD virus, French strain, Fr-2. The virus was found to increase the number of the blood cells. The increase was most pronounced and most protracted in the number of Th, T and Tc/Ts lymphocy...
متن کاملAdverse Effect of T-2 Toxin and the Protective Role of Selenium and Vitamin E on Peripheral Blood B lymphocytes
Background: T-2 mycotoxin belongs to the Trichothecene family and has damaging effects on the immune system. Objective: To investigate the toxic effect of T-2 toxin on the percentage of peripheral blood B lymphocytes and the potential protective role of selenium and vitamin E. Method: Frequencies of B lymphocytes (CD19+ ) were analyzed after injection of sublethal doses of T-2 toxin into Balb/c...
